Yanet Fuentes Torres (Cuba/ UK)

yanet guapa.jpgYanet Fuentes Torres, aka Janet, studied for 7 years and graduated with honours as a qualified teacher in Popular dances, Modern and Contemporary dance, Salsa, Ballet and Folkloric dances from the word-famous National School of Contemporary and Folkloric Dance in Havana, Cuba. She also gained qualification in a multitude of dancing styles including afro cuban dances, cuban popular dances, jazz and hip-hop. Dancer at La Maison Casa de la Moda in Havana. She won 3 times (2001, 2002 and 2004) first place in the professional couples category at the Tropicana World Salsa Competition, held in London.During the period August 2000 - January 20002, and in 2003 Yanet Fuentes was lead dancer and main performer in the hit musical "Lady Salsa" (directed by Toby Gough).Her television appearances include 'The Generation Game' (BBC), 'This Morning' (ITV), Paul O'Grady's Show (ITV) and dance coach for 'Strictly Dance Fever' (BBC).She has also appeared in music videos for artists incl. Alicia Keys, Craig David and has competed in UK:S SYTYCD show. She teaches various salsa classes, perfoms in shows all over London and Great Britain, and appears in various salsa congresses around the world. Last year she has been touring as a dancer with SHAKIRA on her “The sun comes out” –world tour!

Yunaisy Farray (Cuba/Germany)

Yunaisy.pngYunaisy Farray was born in Habana, Cuba. For her family, dance has always been an important part of life. Yunaisy´s grand mother is a famous dancer Mariseli Castillo. Following grandmother´s and her other famous relatives footsteps Yunaisy started to dance when she was only seven years old. Yunaisy has studied ballet and modern cuban dance for years. She studied at the famous ENA and at the Academy National Music Entertainment and became a singer-dancer-actress. She is specialized in dance theatre. After graduating Yunaisy worked for Italian Cruise Valtur Prima, Seo Fernandez Latin Black Dance Group and The Company of Dance Yolena Alonso. Today Yunaisy is living in Germany and she has established her own dance school: Aya salsa & latin dance Academy. Yunaisy visited Baila Baila Salsa Festival 2010 and 2011 and has also teached in Baila´s workshops during 2011.

Alexander Carbó (Cuba/Italy)

alexander carbo.jpgAlexander Carbò was born in 1978 at the Cuban island Isla de la Juventud (Gioventù). At the age of 10 he discovered his passion for dancing and started with classic and modern dance. Changing to the afrocuban style at the age of 16 and studying in Havana at the National Dance Academy, he became a professional dancer. As a lead dancer of a dance group he acted in a lot of the Catena Caribe de Sol Clubs.In 2001 he moved to Italy and started working as dance teacher and choreographer. From this point on he participated in several prestigious competitions of the scene, like “Fiesta” (International Festival for Latin-American Music) in Rome, or the Salsa Festival in Rimini. He competed against world famous dancer and those efforts became rewarded through TV appearances, like f.e. in “La Vita inn Diretta”, “Alle Falde del Kilimangiato” and “Cultura Moderna”.

Today he has got an own dancing school named “Cubanchero Academy” in Rome. He and his dancing partner Yunaisy Farray Castillo participate in many worldwide competitions by which they succeeded to become an excellent couple within only a few years, and to make a name internationally.

Melissa Fernandez & Luis Vazquez (California)

melissaluis.pngMelissa started to dance salsa in 1999. Fast she became popular and famous dancer thanks to her beautiful and sensual dance style. Luis has been dancing since 1992 in Los Angeles. He´s one of the pioners of LA-salsa and a founder of the world-known Salsa Brava Dance Company. Melissa and Luis have been teaching and performing in over 45 countries and they visited Baila Baila Salsa Festival in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Also they have been teaching in Baila´s workshops during autumn 2011.

Alieva Rodriguez Dinza (Cuba/Italy)

alieva.jpgAlieva is a graduate of the prestigious Cuban National School of Art and Dance (ENA) in contemporary dance and Cuban folkore and one of the most exciting dancers on the international Cuban dance scene. She has performed ballet on national television and was a dancer with the most famous musicals including Havana Night in Las Vega, Lady Salsa, and Havana Racatan.  She's currently based in Italy where she has a dance school at which she teaches both traditional and modern Cuban dance forms from rumba and salsa to reggaeton. In addition, she performs with the dance group Obarra Dance.

Fernando Menjura & Ingrid Lozano

ingrid.jpgIngrid and Fernando are Colombian professional dancers. They are salsa evangelists and devoted to bringing the Colombian salsa to the world! They combine the rapid footwork of Colombian salsa with elegant movement and amazing tricks, bringing only the best to their audience and their pupils. At the moment Fernando and Ingrid are living in Sweden.

Arnay Ferreiro (Cuba/ Italy)

 

arnay_ferreiro.jpgArnay Ferreiro was born in Havana, Cuba, where his dancing career started as he was 17 years old. He started by dancing in one of the most succesfull hiphop and breakdance groups called "cuerpo roto". Besides dancing in the group, Arnay was also one of the choreographers and the group was performing in important Cuban happenings, as well on tv and theaters.Studying in I.S.A. (Superior Institute for Art) Arnay studied modern dance and got accepted in the Company of Nacional Dance of Cuba- group where he could mix these these different dance styles. After a few years Arnay started to collaborate with the Cuban national Ballet and deepened his skills as a dancer by contact improvisation among other things.

Arnay ended up in Italy in 1995 making a tour and he decided to stay in Torino to live there. In Torino  he started studying African dances and continued studying them in Senegal, Africa. Arnay was invited by an African choreographer Irene Tassembedo to join her group Ebene to Paris and to a world tour to Europe and Africa.In 1999 Arnay graduated from FIPD from the Caribbean dances line and due to his wide rage of skills, he was really popular.Arnay has continued educating himself, studying jazz with Jesus Aponte, New York salsa with Eddie Torres and Puertorican salsa with Antonella Albanese.In the year 2000 Arnay and Antonella founded together a danceschool "Ahì-Namà Dance Company" in Italy. Today Arnay is teaching and dancing in the world´s biggest salsa festivals in US and in Europe.

San Miguel 

miguelkasvo.pngSan Miguel began teaching salsa in Helsinki when he moved to Finland in 1992. The following year he founded the first salsa dance school in Finland, Baila Baila. He has taught and performed all over Finland, as well as elsewhere in Europe in numerous events and festivals. In 2001 and 2004 he won the Nordic salsa championship, and the Finnish salsa championship in 2004. San Miguel is an experienced and esteemed instructor, and his lessons are fun and challenging.


Carlos Correa 

Carloskasvo.pngAfter three years in Finland, Carlos got to know Miguel, who offered him a place in his dance group. Carlos has been in Baila Baila almost since the beginning of the dance school. Carlos' always sunny demeanour and clear style of teaching draw the halls of Baila full of students. Many come to his lessons regularly to seek help in the couple salsa and rueda patterns. He is also an extremely popular and sought after instructor elsewhere in Finland, and in Europe as well.


Yasser Sarría 

yasserkasvo.pngYasser Sarria Terry graduated as a dance instructor and professional dancer in 1993 (Escuela Profesional de Arte, EPA), and has also earned diplomas in folklore and popular dances in 1997 (Instituto Superior de Arte, ISA). Yasser has danced in numerous show groups in Cuba, and has also won awards in international competitions. In addition, he has both taught and performed all over Europe in different festivals.  He is an energetic and fun instructor and performer loved by the audience. His style combines the power of Afro-Cuban dances, and dynamic atmosphere of popular dance forms.


Soila Sarría 

soila.pngSoila Sarría has studied dance since the age of 6. She has passed several courses in New York, Havana, Santiago de Cuba, and Mali, studying e.g. modern dance, jazz, afro, and Cuban dances. She graduated as a dance pedagogue from Turku Arts Academy in 1998. Soila has taught Cuban salsa since 1998. She has also performed and taught in different events and festivals all over Europe. Soila has twice won the Nordic salsa championship, and Finnish championship in 2004 with Miguel. Soila is an energetic, demanding, and also patient instructor, who manages to make her students surpass themselves and gain great results.


Felix Torres

ope_felix1.jpg Felix has studied in Narciso Medinas Dance academy (la Academia de la Danza de Narciso Medina) and is finnishing his studies in ISA (el Instituto Superior de Arte). He has been dancing since  1997 as a solist  in  el Conjunto Folklorico Nacionalde Cuba. 

Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba is one of the most prestigious dance groups in Cuba. It is founded in  1962 and after that it has been touring every where in the world.

Tiina Perälä


Laternassa.jpg Tiina is personal trainer and fittness instructor. She has over 10 years of experience in giving sport lessons. She has been competing in aerobics, done cheerleading, show-and jazz dance. Today she is giving lessons  from Zumba to Fittness boxing. You can ask Tiina for advice in everything related to fittness, muscle training or nutrition.

Patricio Deuma

patricio.pngPatricio Deuma is from Chile, where he has danced salsa for about ten years. In Finland, he has taught several years, and specialises in particular in teaching LA style. Patricio is a very popular an well liked instructor, and he is also an accomplished choreographer, and a highly sought after performer.
